For this unique pair of doors we worked closely with the client to achieve an architecturally beautiful, and technically stunning entry. We used Bubinga wood for the main door structure and jambs, with custom stainless steel threshold and pull set.
In addition to the overall scale of the doors we also made full height stainless steel pulls that hide all the hardware including a hidden deadbolt and a custom lever. The hardware is very minimal on the outside. To achieve the function and aesthetic we disassembled the lockset and custom machined the hardware directly into the pulls themselves. The goal was to keep the look very clean and solid so it feels more like a piece of furniture than a regular door.
After completing the first door, several years later the client tasked us with re-creating the same door on another property, and so we crafted the same intricate features in bubinga and stainless steel again.
Because of the machining tolerances and customization into the hardware, we now refer to these two doors as the Watchmaker pair.
