This spiral staircase wasn't something we just put together; it was engineered into existence because the footprint left us with absolutely zero margin for error. We spent a lot of time obsessing over the technical side of things before any wood was cut, making sure the math was perfect so that the final installation would feel effortless once it was actually in the space. We focused on understanding the design intent and resolving key technical details before any metal or wood was cut. Through careful prototyping and testing, we refined how each component would come together, ensuring the fabrication process stayed true to the designer’s vision. That preparation allowed the final installation to feel effortless and natural once it was in space.

There’s a specific satisfaction in watching shop-floor stress transform into a clean, quiet silhouette. Being featured in Architectural Digest and receiving the 2026 Staircraft Award are great nods to the work, but the real win is seeing that level of intention hold up in the finished house.

The success of this three-story build came down to a relentless focus on how the individual components spoke to one another. We worked closely with the design team to dial in everything from the custom newel posts to the half-lap rail joints, ensuring the entire assembly shared the same DNA.
