Salem Tour of Homes 2016

For this year’s Tour of homes, we were tapped by T.wheeler homes to build a modern staircase in steel and wood as a central showcase element for their show home.  We decided to utilize our parallel system of wood and solid steel for the guardrail, and Structural C-channel for the stringers.  For the wood components of this modern stair we chose to utilize sustainable structural glulam as the tread material and cvg fir for the wood handrail.  We think the finished product turned out great!  If you want to see this stair in person, the show runs through Sunday, June 26th.  We spent hours designing and crafting this modern, industrial staircase and we would love it if you came and saw it with your own eyes.

Looking up the stair form the basement. We took great lengths to make sure everything in this stair aligns cleanly and precisely.

Looking down the stair form the main great room. We also used solid 1/2″ steel plate as a border between the flooring and the open space above the stair.

One last photo showing the balustrade and handrail interaction. We are excited to see some professional photos of this home once the show is over!
